This year my vacation happened sooner than I thought, because last April my husband won a prize at his company for his excellent results at the end of the year. The company planned an event for all of these employees around the world. This year the place for this amazing event was Hawaii. It was a dream. We went to The Ritz Carlton at Maui Island. The island is full of contrast; there are beaches, mountains, volcanoes and waterfalls.

After I make a really cute scrapbook page, I'm sometimes hesitant to add journaling because I'm afraid I will wreck the design, or make a mistake that messes up the whole page. This Shaped Journaling Spots Cutting Collection is my solution to this dilemma. These shaped journaling spots are cute enough to add to your design rather than take away from it, and they give you a small spot for recording the memories to go along with the photos. You can write your journaling before gluing it to the page so you can correct any mistakes before it's too late. If you hate your handwriting (like I do) then use the Pen Tool or the print & cut method for your journal spots.
Scrapbook mini albums are a very controversial topic. Most people either love them or hate them. I feel a little of both. I love to make them and spend hours adding all of the little details, but then I start to hate it once it's made because I don't know where and how to store it. Which side are you on in the very important topic? Recipe mini albums are different though, because they can be tucked in with my cookbooks and I feel like they have a proper place. I put together a really fun recipe mini album this week with all of the little details I love and I'm excited to share it with you. Every Spring and Early Summer as the cold weather turns and the grass starts to get green, the flowers start blooming and the leaves cover the trees in verdant colors, I get excited and ready to start adding a touch to our own yard for us to enjoy for the next few months. The past two years we have not done a lot in our new home, so this year we are ready to really get started. As I was thinking of the things I needed to do to make sure our yard is vibrant with color and flowers, I recalled the special recipe that my oldest sister used and shared with us in the past. We have used this recipe in our past homes and have always left each place with a plush lawn and beautiful landscaping with flowers and bushes that show their colors to the fullest. So I know it is time to pull out the 'recipe.' As I was doing that, I realized I could not find it. It then occurred to me, it should be with my recipe swap book that I did years ago with a group of online friends, that I still use. That meant creating a page.

I am generally a person that likes to have many photos on my pages, but once in awhile you capture a photo that deserves it's own special page. This is one of those photos. Willow hadn't been feeling well and had been sick off and on with a fever for about 10 days. She had been sleeping and trying to get better and her puppy was generally close by. Puddy has always liked Willow, but they weren't always close. Anyway, in recent weeks they have gotten to be better friends and as you can see, it has really grown into a special love. Willow calls Puddy her 'puppy brother' and it is nice to see them loving each other and Puddy taking care of Willow while she gets better.
