Scraps, Scraps & More Scraps!!

Scraps, scraps and more scraps!! That’s what we all have in our drawers and boxes throughout our craftrooms, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if those boxes are even in the living room and dining room too! If you’re like me, you can’t bear to throw those scraps away because you know that you might need that smallest piece of paper for a later project. Alison has the right idea here when it comes to scraps. Paper can get pretty expensive and with times like this we want to really make our dollars stretch.

Is it Good to be ...

Long, long ago in a time now considered ancient by many of you, there was a TV show called All in the Family with Archie Bunker. He had very little patience for his wife Edith and often called her a “dingbat”. That was not a nice use of the word and it was absolutely FORBIDDEN in my home. Thankfully, the term dingbat has become an acceptable term due to the popularity of dingbat fonts. Dingbat fonts are fonts that use shapes and designs instead of letters and numbers. Type an A and you might get a candy cane, type B and you see a reindeer. I entered “dingbat fonts” in my Google™ search window and came up with several dingbat font sites. I was really surprised at the variety of fonts available. I even found SpongeBob™ and Winnie the Pooh™ dingbats. The Dutch Tile here was made using a Dutchmen font and a POrnaments font.

Cupcake Wrappers

Cupcake wrappers are tremendously popular right now, and it isn't hard to see why. They can take a ordinary cupcake to extraordinary for almost any event. They are perfect for birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, weddings and almost any other event you can think of!

Home is where the heart ...

Some of the most important things about a scrapbook page are the small details. This week's Fabulous Find goes to a person who never fails to show that it is all about the details, no matter what the project is. As I looked over the galleries, this week it was a little bird that caught my eye.

Pressure and Blade Length Settings

Getting your pressure settings just right is a trial and error process until you become better acquainted with your Inspiration. I remember when I started out; it just seemed that I couldn’t master the settings that would work best to cut through my favorite papers. Too much pressure was making my paper lift and throw in to the mix that my blade was extended out too far—the result was disastrous. My cardstock would be ruined and on top of that working on a deadline for a project can be pretty frustrating. I can really relate to Jenny and the problem that she describes because I too have experienced the same issue.

Making Scallops

Who doesn’t love scallops? They are so much fun and I don’t think they have ever NOT been fashionable! Big scallops, small scallops, mini scallops and scallops on scallops can be found everywhere in scrapbooking and card making projects, home decor and fashion. The trick is how to make those scalloped looks yourself without pulling your hair out in the process!

Spring Fever!

It seems like weather is running the gamet across the country. Some places are already sweltering hot while other places are still bundling up in winter coats. Here at Pazzles headquarters we are still waiting for spring to arrive, and we've got spring fever! At least there is always the Craft Room to brighten your day, come rain or shine!

Strawberry Shortcake

When I see Strawberry Shortcake™ it brings back all kinds of childhood memories. It is so good that I can almost smell a strawberry scent wafting through the air. The pink and red with the rich green is so ‘berry’ Strawberry Shortcake™! When I saw Angie’s birthday collection I knew it had to be this week's Fabulous Find.

Working with Fabric!

Fabric, like a lot of different materials out there has found a small place in the paper crafting industry. Fabrics can add a really nice touch to your favorite cards, layouts and dimensional projects. We love anything we can cut with our Inspiration. It’s all about ease of use and the ability to create custom designs using our favorite materials and textures. Crafting really is all about freedom of expression and like I’ve seen with many of your projects, it’s not just limited to the paper world. There are a lot of really neat projects created using fabrics, acrylic, vinyl and even wood veneer. I can tell from Loris question that she is like a lot of you out there, and ready to take on the next project using a different kind of medium.

Handprint Memories

A while ago, I created a photo mat for a picture of my granddaughter Kirsten. What made this photo mat special was that Kirsten’s photo was framed inside of a cutout of her handprint. I also had scanned and cut out her signature. The result? A framed photo of Kirsten at age 5 with her handprint and signature done at age 5 as well. I loved it so much that I used it on our HSN segments. It became very popular and quickly ended up in our consumer convention booth. I am sure many of you have seen it. What was it about that project that resonated with so many people?

Page Maps!

Have you ever tried using a page map for your cards and scrapbooks? Page maps are a sensational way to get your creative juices flowing, but leave room for you to do your own thing and make something completely unique. I know all of us Creative Cutter users are all about making something that is one of a kind! Just like everyone else though, sometimes inspiration just doesn't strike and we need a boost. Page maps can give you that boost and even help you try something you may not have ever thought of before!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone! We here at Pazzles hope that you have a wonderful holiday weekend filled with family, friends, and memories! After all of your festivities are over, we hope you find some time to relax and check out what happened at the Craft Room this week!

Lucky Charms

Sometimes we just don't realize how good we are until someone else gives us recognition. This week's Fabulous Find goes to a person that is just starting with the cutter, even though she modestly states that " it is it's nothing out of the box".

Saving Images to the Image ...

The Inspiration Studio software makes the process of viewing saved cutting files a lot easier with the ability to download those images directly to the image gallery. I love the fact that I can view my images through the gallery and then simply click on the image to import it to my page. Since it’s so easy to view CDs you’ve saved to the gallery, a lot of you want to know what other ways the gallery can benefit you—mostly with the thought of being able to save your own designs. I’ve put together some helpful suggestions here to help answer Alisha’s questions as well as a lot of others here in the Craftroom.

Getting Out Those Kinks!

By now, I would imagine that a lot of you have been exploring the ability of the Inspiration software to convert clipart to cutting files. The process of auto tracing (vectorizing) a drawing, photo or clipart never ceases to thrill me each time I use it. I can let so much more of my own personality show in my projects by being able to use the design I want instead of settling for a “whatever works” image.

Easter is Coming!

Palm Sunday is this Sunday and you know what that means? Easter is right around the corner! I love Easter because it is all about rebirth and everything around us seems to be blooming anew! I hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays and once your fingers are thoroughly died a deep shade of blue from making Easter eggs, make sure to take a few moments to see what has been going on in the Craft Room this week!

Baby Shower Collection

It's so fun to plan a shower for any occasion, but its extra special when we are celebrating a new life. This week's fabulous find does just that; it’s a whole collection of homemade baby shower decorations! Everything you need to throw a great party from the invitation to center pieces. Ana did a wonderful job with this collection.

Upgrading to Windows 7

I didn’t think it would hurt to touch on a topic that we’ve visited about in the past. The gang here at Pazzles has been getting lots of questions in the last two weeks in regards to Windows 7. Tax season is here so a lot of you are like me, buying something you’ve been waiting for all year with your tax returns. So many of you are excited about purchasing new computers with Windows 7. I’ve been fortunate enough to upgrade my computer here at work to Windows 7. With anything there are adjustments, but the benefits are fabulous! Here’s a question Jean had when upgrading her computer:

Finding Clip Art

I really love to vectorize my own designs, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. But I’m really not an artist and it’s hard for me to make something up out of thin air so I usually start with a clip art file. My only problem is that I am cheap. I mean I am REALLY cheap, so I don’t want to have to buy clip art. One really amazing source for clip art that I have found is sites that offer public domain clip art.

Easter Pocket Purses

These adorable little bags are called "Pocket Purses" and have the distinguishing feature of a band that covers the top of the bag. These purses would be a wonderful way to give out Easter candy!

Welcome Spring!

Spring is finally here! At my house the daffodils are blooming and the grass is turning green. I am so ready for the warmer weather and the little indications that spring is truly here just cheer my heart. Of course you may have other indications of spring right now such as spring break! I know there is a lot of vacations and traveling going on right now so whether you are at home or on the road, I hope you are having a wonderful spring! In between all the business of the season I hope you have some time to see some of the wonderful things going on at the Pazzles Craft Room!

Tea party

Being a part of the craft room is like being part of a community. We get to hang out with our friends, kick back, and share ideas and images. That is why this week, when I was looking for the fabulous find, I was very excited to find this project. I love the way it was put together using files from different members in the craft room. It feels as though a bunch of friends got together to scrap and shared their images Angie did an awesome job with these files.
