Yearly Archives: 2012

What do YOU want to ...

Over the past few years I have been making tutorials and projects for Tips and Tricks (previously Tricky Tuesday) on a weekly basis. I chose the topics based on what I have seen in the Pazzles Forums or what I think will make using your Inspiration Creative Cutter more enjoyable. Rather than choose a new topic myself this week, I think it is time to hear from you!

Round Top Lunch Box

Round Top Lunch Box

Round top lunch boxes are one of those nostalgia items that never really goes out of style. Even if we never had a lunch box like it, we know someone who did. And the shape is perfect for so many different purposes! Treasure chests, steamer trunks, toy boxes and… of course, lunch boxes.

No Classes: September 9 and ...

I am in Chantilly with Chris teaching at the Retreat. This is a great time to work on other projects or really delve into the Archives or Videos.

‘Shoot’ to Improve Your Photography ...

What are some inexpensive ways to ramp up your photography skills, put your camera to good use, and start capturing some super shots for your next scrapbooking project? What are some photography techniques that have worked well for you?

CD 17 Boxes and Bags

How to save files from ...

When Pazzles launched the Inspiration we wanted to make sure that everything we had worked so hard creating in the past for the Creative Cutter Pro and the Pazzles Mini and Mighty would work for Inspiration owners as well. That meant it was important that all of our images on our original image CDs could be imported and used in the Inspiration software too. I like to call these image CDs “oldies but goodies.” Two of my favorite image CDs are CD 17 Boxes and Bags, and CD 18 Cards and Tags.

Verve Stamps

Thank you to the Chantilly ...

We'd like to take some time out and say thank you, ever so much, to the wonderful folks at the following companies who have products in the kits, door prizes, and goody bags for the Chantilly Retreat.

Get smooth, easy cuts with ...

When I am creating titles and projects, I try to have nice flowing lines. I use script fonts and like lots of curves. I like how curves look and feel and I like how they cut out. However, some designs just look better with angles and points, and it can be a bit tricky when it comes to cutting out those tight spots.

September Challenge

What does September mean to you? For me, it has changed throughout the years. As a child it meant an end to the lazy days of summer and back to school. I loved the process of back to school: buying new pens, pencils, crayons, etc. As a young mother, it meant that my kids were going to be going back to school, which meant volunteering for field trips, reading with kids, and more. Now as an older person without kids, it means it is getting colder, getting the yard ready for winter and of course, college football. This months challenge is to create a project or layout on what September means to you. Whether is it back to school, winter yard preparation, football, volleyball or something else, just have fun. After you have completed your project, go put it in the September Challenge Folder. Then about September 20, we will announce the winner of the random drawing.

Hanging Black Faux Wrought Iron Chandelier

Hanging Faux Wrought Iron Chandelier

The projects that I love best are the ones that look complicated but can easily be assembled in a minute. I have always been a big fan of silhouettes because I like the simplistic look, yet I love all the detail. This chandelier has a way of making 'simple' really sparkle. So if you’re looking for the perfect project to ‘shine a light’ on your next party or event, don’t forget about this cute chandelier.

Creating Titles: Part 4 (September ...

In the last of a series of creating fun and exciting titles, we will be putting titles on curves and different paths. This is such a fun way to do titles or to add journaling in a fun new way. Classes are on Sunday at 7pm, Monday at 5am and Monday at 1pm. All times are CST (Chicago time zone). If you are not sure what time that is in your location, go to the World Time Conversion site to see what time you will join us. To join, simply go to Klo’s Classroom, then Enter Classroom and sign in as a guest.

A Special Invitation to Cruise ...

We want to extend a special invitation to all of our fabulous Pazzles customers. Join Klo and I on a cruise to the Caribbean, February 10–16, 2013! We will be teaching classes on the days at sea and then you can play on the days at port. You can even join Klo or I in an activity if you want! Of course we won't begrudge you time with your special someone either. After all, they are going to treat you to this romantic Valentine's cruise, right?

Hi Card with reverse-out sentiment and rainbow of glitters

Make Your Own Glitter Letters ...

Ever buy glitter letter stickers and discover they were the wrong color? Or did you use all of the letter E and now you're stuck with extra Zs and Qs that can't be used? You can find and cut glitter-covered paper, like Chris did recently, or you can make your own glitter alphabets and embellishments! Instead of sticker alphabets, I like to get double-sided adhesive sheets, cut only the letters and shapes I want on my Pazzles Inspiration, and then cover with glitter to match my project. It's a lot cheaper than buying individual sticker sets to match my projects, plus I get custom shapes that I don't get with sticker packs! Here's how to do it.

Write on Both Sides of ...

In an earlier blog, I promised to show more projects made using the 'Flip It' method. By using this method you can write on both sides of a project in one easy flip of the paper. Plus you don't need to follow any complicated steps to line everything up. Imagine not having to write the sentiment or poem on a separate piece of paper. You don't have to glue it to the inside of the card hoping you get it all lined up either. You can add fancy pen work with the Inspiration Pen Tool where ever you want on the card.

Hydrangea Hanging Ball

This Hydrangea hanging ball, or pomander, would make a beautiful wedding decoration. It can also be used as decoration in the home. I made this one to resemble a hydrangea but it could be a fall chrysanthemum by using golds and rusty reds. If you change the colors to red and green you can have a poinsettia ball. The Inspiration makes short work of cutting all of the flower pieces. (I cannot imagine punching each one out individually.) The project is perfect for working on while watching a movie or your favorite tv show. Older kids can help by poking the pins through the center of the florets. But be warned! They will likely want one for their room too.

Creating Titles: Part 3 (August ...

If you missed this weeks classes, be sure and watch the recorded classes here: Sunday Evening Session Monday Morning Session       Monday Afternoon Session We are continuing the wonderful world of titles this week. We will be learning to create titles that go in a frame.  This is very exciting, because it is "baby steps" of learning to create your own personalized overlays. I have been looking very forward to this class and hope you will join me.

Soap Gift Box

Soap Gift Box

Recently I asked my Facebook fans for ideas to do with my five grandchildren ages 2 to 9. I got a lot of wonderful ideas from them! (If you want to see more ideas 'Like' my Facebook page.) One of the projects was to make soap in the microwave. It was such a success that I couldn't wait to tell the Pazzles office staff about it. Eventually I concluded that a demo was in order so I packed up the supplies and brought it all to our Pazzles kitchen.

Get Well Overlay Card

I love the look that overlays can add to a project. They can range from simple to complex depending on the design and the look you want to achieve for your project.

Are you Chantilly Retreat bound?

The Chantilly Retreat is just 2 1/2 weeks away! Are you excited? Have you already started packing? Maybe you didn't realize how close the time was getting, or maybe you are just a little nervous? Are you afraid you won't know what everyone else does? Don't worry, the retreat is going to be a wonderful experience!

How to store images off ...

You all know that when you are cooking, you should have all the tools and ingredients you need close at hand. The same organization applies to making a project in Inspiration Studio. Your tools are found in the Inspiration software and, thankfully, stay right where you can find them. Your ingredients are often images from the Image Libray but can also be ones you have made. You may have special ingredients like clip art or photos.

Baby Splash Invitation

August Challenge Winner

Congratulations to Pazzles Craft Room Member, cdnmom, she made this really fun 'Baby Splash' card. She is the winner of the random drawing for the August Challenge.

Curved Puzzle Box Project

Have you ever needed a last-minute box? This very simple box is fast and easy to make, but looks like it takes hours.

No Class August 19 and ...

There will be no class this week, but be sure to be ready next week as we continue learning to create and design more titles. If you haven't seen the last few classes, check out the Klo's Classroom Archives while we are away this week.

Mod Podge Jewelry made by grandkids holds sentimental value

Sentimental Treasures in Grandma’s Jewelry ...

Recently my mother gave me Grandma's jewelry boxes filled with her costume jewelry. What a walk down memory lane! My mom thought the grandkids would like to play with them but I am not really ready to part with these treasures yet. The big question for me is: What do I hold on to and what do I let go? I know that I cannot keep every piece, but it is so hard to decide. Have any of you faced this dilemma? Any ideas on how to chronicle these treasures?
