Crafting with Kids: Bookmarks

“Muuuummmm! I’m bored!” Is this something you’re hearing a lot at the moment with the children on summer break or on the weekends? A quick virtual trip to the Pazzles Craft Room Library could turn the nagging into some constructive, (and creative) time by cutting out some cute animal friends to turn into bookmarks. You could cut out a group of them and the children can do the assembly work and make some for their friends.

Mini Album Calendar

Calendar Mini Album

Hello crafty friends, Melin here with you today to share my mini album. I was so thrilled to have a chance to create a mini album for this week's Christmas in July projects. I chose to go with a Calendar theme. This makes the perfect gift for special friends and or family. I started with the Scalloped Shaped Frame. I sized it to approximately 8.25 x 8.25. I cut the scallop in white. I cut out seven of them. I then cut the larger mat out in kraft cardstock. I cut out 14 of them and adhered them to both sides of the white scallop mats. I then chose several patterned papers from the DCWV Linen Closet. I love the beautiful soft teals, blues and greens. I created the little mini calendars and the labels for the months. I've included them below for you to download along with a notes journaling card. I printed them out and cut them with my Inspiration Vue.

Firecracker Box

Firecracker Shelf Box

Both Heidi and I want to apologize that this project is being released the day before it's intended holiday. We had a miscommunication, but it's such a cool box I didn't want to skip over it. The shape can be adapted to so many things and it has many other uses besides holding firecrackers. So please forgive us and enjoy this awesome box! ~Michelle I think outside of Christmas, the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. We always have a huge 4th of July celebration and cookout in our neighborhood and it is typically held at my house. It’s so much fun having everyone over and we have made some amazing memories. One of my favorite things to do is to pull out pictures from past years and see how much all the neighborhood kids have grown.

Patriotic 4th of July Bear Layout

4th of July Patriotic Bear ...

Hello crafty friends, Melin back in the Craft Room with you today. I was tasked this time with creating a project with a patriotic theme, so this is what I came up with. I created this layout using a few of the fun Craft Room files. I selected the MK July 4th Title, the MK Independence Borders. I also used the Sparkler, the Independence Hat, the Panda Bear and the Panda Sitting files.

Combining Cut Files: Easel Card ...

Have you downloaded the Cut and Fold Medallions 2 Collection yet? I did as soon as they were released! I love how the machine does all the work for you to create these amazing little gems. I used them to make a Halloween banner last year which you can find here. I have used the Cut and Fold Medallions on cards before, but not quite like this.

Live In The Moment Layered ...

Hello crafty friends, Melinda with you today sharing a quick and easy card you can make in no time at all! For my card I used the Fancy Floral Frame cut file I found in the Craft Room. When I saw it, I thought...what a gorgeous file. I made my card base a 5" x 6.5" size. So I sized the frame a quarter inch smaller. I wondered how it would cut and was not disappointed. It cut beautifully. I then turned to my In The Moment stamp set. I stamped the flourished frame stamp with my Versamark Ink Pad and heat embossed it with some gold embossing powder. I then used my Cashmere Ink Pad to stamp the sentiment. I cut the sentiment out and then used some foam tape under it to give it a little lift. I then added a bow and a Prima flower from my stash. The green mat and the colored mat under the frame are patterned papers from the DCWV Dear Jane Stack. The base was Colonial White Cardstock. I finished it off by putting some pearl accents around the stamping. The card doesn't have too much on it as I really wanted the frame to be the focal point of the card, as it is such a beautiful file. This card came together fast and beautifully!

Sisters Forever Layout

Design Team Favorites: Sisters Scrapbook ...

Join the Pazzles Design Team this week as we share a few of our favorite things with you. Hello crafty friends, Melinda here with you today. Our theme this week is Favorite Things. We were to use and or incorporate some of our favorite things in our projects. So here is what I came up with. My favorite thing hands down is my Pazzles Inspiration Vue. This machine literally changed my crafting. I went from hand drawing and hand cutting my paper piecings to being able to create and cut some of the most intricate designs. Aside from the machine my second favorite thing is the software. The software allows you to design your layouts before you cut a thing. I love that it works so much like many of our other programs. I can even insert the pictures I am going to use in my layout.

A Garden Makeover

For many years I have been saying I wanted to create a nice backyard garden area that was fun and functional. As I have looked at magazines, online and just chatted with people, I realized I had the ability to not only have a nice garden, but with my Pazzles, some garage sale finds, spray paint and some vinyl, I was able to get a good start on my creation.

Retiring Pazzles Design Team Members

Today we say goodbye to a few of our Design Team members. They've inspired us in so many ways over the last year (or more). We've been inspired to use Action Wobble Springs in clever ways by Joanna, cut unique materials like milk jugs from Marjorie, and create the most beautiful flower bouquet from paper by Krista.

May Day Flower Basket

Each year for May Day (May 1), my kids and I make and leave baskets on neighbors and friend's doors. Our basket takes a different form every year. This year I have made a tussie mussie to stand in as a May Day Basket. A tussie mussie is traditionally a very small bouquet that is usually worn on the breast. Sometimes it is larger and held in the hands. Wikipedia says “The term tussie-mussie comes from the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901), when the small bouquets became a popular fashion accessory.” My tussie mussie is 12" inches tall. In the Pazzles Craft Room Library you will find many files to help you dress up your “basket.”

Elegant Cards Week: Lattice Overlay ...

For this elegant Mother’s Day card I used the Fun Folds 2 Shutter Card from the Fun Folds 2 Cutting Collection. I thought this particular card, with its wavy edges and raised oval center, was perfect for a Mother’s Day card. Instead of using the solid overlays that are included in the file, I chose turn them into a lattice pattern using the tools in the Inspiration Studio Pro 2014 software. Then I added a small pearl at each intersection of the lattice pattern.

Gatefold Birthday Card

Paris Shutter Card

I adore making cards–it’s my thing! I really love making something extra special for someone to help make their day memorable. This card was made for a very special young lady who just turned 9. She’s an old soul, and a delightful young lady. She has an interest in all things Paris, so deciding on the theme was easy. It’s no secret the Fun Folds II Collection is one of my absolute favourites and a ‘go to’ file. This particular file, the Shutter Card, along with the Vintage Frame is something I’ve used before. This time it’s different. It’s more heavily embellished and the paper is highly patterned.

Framed Cherry Blossom Paper Tree

Spring Blossoms Paper Tree Art

Ah, Spring – one of my favourite seasons. Beautiful blooms, sunshine and not too hot days. I adore the way that in America, you celebrate the turn of every season and decorate your homes accordingly. We don’t do that here in Australia, but I love the idea of it and am considering doing it in our house.

Horse Favor Bags

Project Rewind: Horse Party Ribbons

Design Team Member Belle Donaghey has taken an old project and made it new again. Today I’m going to share with you a project I’ve created for my daughter’s upcoming birthday that was based on a Halloween project that Michelle created some time back. The project I am using for inspiration is the Halloween Costume Party Ribbons. I loved the idea of these party ribbons and considered using them as name tags, but then settled for making them into gift bag decorations personalised for each of her friends. I love pink and brown used together, and I already had kraft gift bags in my stash, so the colours all worked really nicely together. I introduced some white with the paper doily and the centre medallion with the horse image on it. Using only a few colours makes this project straightforward, quick & easy. I separated the cutting files and grouped them by the colour I was planning to cut each shape in. The rosettes are a cinch to fold and glue together and look fantastic. It adds a 3 dimensional aspect to the project and some sturdiness to the bag too. For extra texture I ran both the paper bag and the ribbons through my embossing machine. I left the brown piece flat so I could apply Charlotte’s name in white vinyl on a smooth surface. (I used the font Blackjack.)

DIY Suncatcher

Make Your Own Spring Suncatcher

Spring is on the horizon, flowers are getting ready to bloom and the sun is ready to give all its warmth to the Earth. I love this time of year and one of my favorite things are sun catchers. I have been making them in one form or another since I was a little girl. For today’s project I’m using the Pen Tool and transparency film. In my InVue software I drew two squares turning one on end inside the other to form my design. Then I imported the Daffodils file from the Craft Room and with a little finessing was able to make the file so no lines overlapped.
