Spring Tulip Layout And Card

Hello crafty friends, Melin here, and today I wanted to share a layout I created with a spring theme. The layout is pretty straight forward. I cut the flowers and leaves and inked their edges for a little dimension. I like laying out everything before I cut and print so I know exactly what size everything needs to be. I used the DCWV Butterfly Garden paper for the background. I used the following craft room files: Frame With Oval And Lattice, Spring Tulips, Spring Daffodils, Tulip Flourish, Fancy Circle Frame.

Cut And Paste Sketches: Circle ...

Have you played with our Cut And Paste Sketches yet? We hope they make the planning and prepping easier so you can quickly get to the fun part of embellishing your projects. Today's card is perfect for the stampers in our group. Stamp your favorite image in the circle and color it in. The pennant on the right is the perfect spot for a sentiment stamp. If you are not a stamper, use your Pen Tool to draw your stamps.

Spring Prom Paper Boutonniere and ...

Spring is in the air and that means lots of beautiful flowers, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and lots of fun filled spring dances! I created this wrist corsage and boutonniere so you and your sweetie can look fabulous at your spring fling. They are both completely made out of paper with the exception of the elastic lace band on the wrist corsage. Just think, by the end of the night your corsage and boutonniere will still look wonderful while others will be wilting away. They can be kept forever so you never forget the terrific night you had!

Wedding Anniversary Gate Card

Yesterday was my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Being married for 50 years is quite an accomplishment and I wanted to make them a special card to go with our gift. Our Fun Folds Cutting Collection has been very popular and I love to use the card bases when an extra special card is called for. In this case I used the Panel Gate Fun Fold file and welded the 50 to the top of the inside flap. I added some roses made with the Twirled Flowers files to the front and a monogram made from gold glitter cardstock, since the 50th anniversary is the golden anniversary.

Spring Party Banner

I love this cute spring banner that can easily be adapted for any event! Made with files from the Craft Room Library!

Cut And Paste Sketches: You ...

I love to browse the home aisles at Target and look for trendy patterns and color combinations. This weekend while shopping for a shower curtain I came across one that had stripes of various shades of pink. It was love at first sight, but not practical for my house. I kept thinking about it and decided to make today's Cut And Paste Sketch all about those pink stripes.

Easter Egg Carton Carrier

An easy-to-assemble egg carton cover your kids can use to store their eggs in and take home after the egg hunt!

Strawberry Jam Jar Gift Tags

I remember when I was about 10, being in the kitchen with my great grandmother. We called her "Granna". I remember the smell of fresh strawberry jam and helping her to mash the berries. It’s a memory that has stayed with me forever, and so every year I make my house smell just like hers. Fresh strawberry jam is something my family has always loved, and for a few lucky people they get to live that memory with me as I give out the jam. This year I used my Inspiration to make my labels. I first cut three 3" circles for the tops out of a plaid pattern paper. Then I used the Deckled Edge Classic Ovals from the Spellbinders Cutting Collections.

Best Buds Layout

Melin here and today and I am sharing a super quick and easy layout. I chose the DCWV Neon Chic paper stack for all the patterned papers. The only other paper used is some black cardstock. I started by using my software to “layout” my page. This alone is a huge time saver. You can determine what sizes you need your elements to be before you make a single cut. I will even import my picture into the page so that I know exactly what size I want to print the image out once I am done designing. The additional benefit to doing this is, you can “save" this layout in your library and you can “reuse” this base layout again and again!

Cut And Paste Sketches: Medallion ...

Schedule in some creative time for yourself and make a whole stack of cards to cover any occasion. I love having my own personal card store in my closet. My mother and mother-in-law shop for cards in my closet too and they love having access to whatever they might need. Today's sketch is perfect for any recipient. It can be made masculine or childish, or dressed up for an elegant version. Have fun with this sketch and share your creations with us on Facebook or in the Pazzles Albums.

Milk Jug Necklace

I was inspired by a necklace I saw Erin Madsen from DCWV wearing in a video for paper stacks. It looked kind of like iridescent shells, but being a crafter I saw milk jug material. I waited for my family to finish the gallon of milk in the fridge, then I rinsed it out and cut the flat side off. I used the Flower Bunch file from the Craft Room Library. That file really seems to be my go to file for spring projects. I chose a flower with defined petals and duplicated it until I had nine flowers, then resized three each to 1.5", 1.25" and 1". I thought at this point it might get tricky, but it didn’t. I put the milk jug pieces on a new conditioned mat, as I did not want them to move during cutting. Just to make sure they didn't slip, I taped them with painters tape also. I cut them on the stencil material setting and did 2 passes, first on a blade depth of 2 and then on 2.5. It cut beautifully.

March Challenge Reminder

Have you been inspired by our March Challenge yet? As a reminder the challenge this month is to take some form of inspiration from this home décor picture and make a project. We want you to find something within the picture that inspires you and make a project. You might love the colors, or the pattern on the rug, or you might make a card with a chair or couch on it. There is no right or wrong answer on this. Just have fun! Details on the challenge can be found here. Are you ready to see what a few of the Design Team Members came up with? Joanna Wright

Apron Pocket Card

I love apron cards because of their unique and fun shape. The pocket allows the wonderful opportunity to include fun recipes. They're always a great hit for wedding showers or housewarming parties. I changed this Apron Recipe Card file up a bit in that I didn’t make the pocket that was included in the cutting file. Instead, I used the shaped pocket from the Star Pocket Card cutting file. This way, I could add lace around the pocket. Insert Kitchen Utensils into the pocket to add to the effect and then add your favorite recipes. I put seam binding at the waist to make the apron even more realistic.

Beautiful Blossoms Cutting Collection

Every spring I start planning my garden and look forward to it with rose colored glasses. I forget about the weeds and the bugs that come along to destroy everything until it is too late. Then I vow to never plant a garden again. By the following spring I am looking forward to planting again and I forget all about the pesky problems a gardener has to deal with. You can skip the fuss and make your own flower garden this year with our Beautiful Blossoms Cutting Collection. This collection of 10 lacy floral files will make any spring project a showstopper. While these files are perfect for cards and scrapbook pages, they would also make a beautiful vinyl garden on a wall. If you miss the bugs you can just find a few in the Craft Room Library to add to your garden.

Lucky to Have You Layout

This beautiful layout can be used for many different types of photos. Whether it is a sweet baby, grandparent, car, pet or any other thing that makes you feel lucky, this is the layout for you. Have fun layering different papers to create just the look you want. You can use all of the pieces or pick and choose to customize it to make it just right for you. Notice the flowers that are disguising the lucky shamrocks, if you want more of a St. Patrick's Day layout, simply leave the flowers off. After cutting all of the pieces out, I decided to chalk and ink the edges just to add a little dimension. I also popped up the centers of each flower. To add one last touch, I pulled out my sewing machine and added a few lines of stitching. I also used my pen tool for the "to have you" words.

DIY Dimensional Flowers

I love springtime, as there are such pretty flowers to admire bursting into bloom. Also, there are some beautiful cutting files in the Craft Room Library that can be teamed up with pretty floral papers to create a lovely 3D project. Today I have used the Banner Box cutting file in the Pazzles Library for my gift box. I have cut this out using pretty floral paper. Remember you can resize the box smaller or larger using your Pazzles software. I also resized the banner overlay to make a smaller banner in coordinating paper as a background for my flower. I was browsing through the Tips and Tricks section in the Craft Room and came across a blog post, Dimensional Flowers. I watched the accompanying video tutorial on how to create 3D Flowers which includes several cutting files for you to use.

Gold Nugget Sucker Covers

Make these golden nugget sucker covers for your friends and family and celebrate St. Patty's day in perfectly green fashion. Let them know how lucky they are you love them.

Butterfly Pops Party Favor

Today I have made a quick 15 minute project, a Butterfly Lollipop Holder using my Pazzles Inspiration. I love butterflies and when I saw this 3-D Butterfly in the Craft Room Library, I just knew I would be using it for one of my projects. I imported the file into my Pazzles software and deselected some of the layers, as I wanted to use a combination of different patterned papers. I duplicated the butterfly and set it to one side. Taking the first imported butterfly I deleted all the layers except the largest base layer.

Pocket Card Gift Box

I was excited to see the new addition of the Pocket Box Card to the Craft Room Library.  The little box is just the right size for fun gifts.  This project was enlarged to 11 1/2" width. After covering the box card in pink papers, I added some of the Handful of Hearts file sized at 4 3/4”.  I love to add sewing to projects and so my absolute favorite tool is the Piercing Tool as it makes pierced holes that are separated by whatever spacing you want.  Hand stitching has never been so accurate and easy!

Front Door Vinyl Signs

Driving through my neighborhood the other day I saw that my neighbor had added her last name to her front door with vinyl. I instantly wanted to be a copycat. What a cute idea! Sometimes it's the simple things we can do with our Inspiration that we overlook. Since I can't create all of your last names for you in fun fonts, I did the next best thing and made several generic front door signs ready to cut out in your color choice of vinyl. I don't know why I never thought of this before, but I think this might be my part of every gift I give this year. What a cute idea for newlyweds or a small gift for a teacher, or neighbor.
