Kiss Cutting Your Projects

Your color pallet can be an amazing tool to help create your projects. To use the Kiss Cut feature to its fullest potential and really maximize the use of your color pallet, I thought I would introduce some of the features you see there. This function can be used for so much more than just creating simply perforated fold lines for cards. Since we are creating images from a one dimension piece of paper, it’s sometimes hard to incorporate extra details. With the Kiss Cut feature you can create the illusion of ruffles in shirts, button holes, stitch marks and details in faces and animal images too.

Blade Length

Trying to figure out your blade length and pressure is almost an art. Getting it right takes practice and the more experience you have the easier it gets. I know when you are first starting out not being able to get your settings right can be really frustrating.

Learning About Hand Vectorization!

I love hearing from new Inspiration users as well as our older customers too, telling me that with the New Year they are going to tackle new projects with their Inspirations and attempt to learn some new skills too! I can’t think of a better way to do this then with the help of our awesome community of Inspiration users here in the Craft Room. I’m always excited to hear from all of you, and even more excited to hear what’s on your agenda for 2010! The one task that many Inspiration users want to try out right away is the vectorization capabilities in the software. Believe me when I say that nothing is better in the Inspiration Studio software than vectorization!! To me, and I know to a lot of others out there too, it’s the most valuable tool in the software. The ability to take your favorite photographs or clipart and turn it into a cutting file is amazing. Whether you are doing this for your own projects, or gifts for friends and family, nothing can add a personal touch like a custom image or title can. We are the master creators when it comes to custom projects. With the Inspiration, anything is possible!!

Vinyl Makes It Special!

I have had a secret for the past week. By the time this blog appears in the Pazzles Craft Room I hope everyone here at the office is enjoying my gift. I am giving one of those coffee makers that use individual pods to make one cup of coffee at a time. Now the tea drinkers, the hot cocoa lovers and the flavored coffee aficionados can all choose what they want. No more expensive trips to Moxie Java for Jeremy and Pete! But, hey, what is an office without the required coffee mugs with your name on them? So I also bought some stacking coffee mugs to go with it and I added everyone’s name in vinyl. It was so fast and easy to do but makes the gift a lot more fun. (I forgot one for myself, though!)

Where Were You in 1999?

Christmas is behind us though we are sure you haven't quite recovered from it yet. In fact, if you are like many of us you probably don't WANT to recover! We hope your Christmas was filled with love and wonderful memories. New Year's is lurking right around the corner now, hard to believe it will be 2010!

See You Next Year!

We hope you are having a very Merry Christmas. This whole week has been about celebrating the season. Perhaps part of your Christmas is getting to have some time to yourself? If so, we are glad you are spending that time with us!

Don’t Forget To Give Your ...

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I’m so excited! Even though we haven’t made it through Christmas yet, I’m already thinking about Valentine’s Day! The holidays just keep coming, don’t they? Before too much longer we will hear the birds chirping and welcoming spring time. Spring is always a great time to renew everything old and make it new—it’s like turning a new leaf for the trees, as well as for us! Even though it’s not quite spring yet, I still thought it would be a great time to talk about the Inspiration and any ‘spring cleaning’ that it may need.

Need a Last Minute Gift ...

It never fails. No matter how hard I try and how many lists I make, I always end up needing a last minute gift or two. Fortunately, I have the tools to make great gifts right here in my home. I have my computer and printer and I have plenty of paper to choose from due to my paper addiction. Plus, I have the ultimate crafting tool: my cutter. One of the most appreciated gifts is a nice photo in a frame. If that photo and frame has a customized mat, the gift becomes one to treasure. Throughout the year, I try to keep my eye out for sales on frames. I like to to keep a few on hand so I don’t have to go shopping for one at the last minute. Making a customized mat is not difficult and you can have a great gift in less than an hour.

Christmas Is Almost Here!

Christmas is right around the bend and here at the Pazzles Craft Room we have been kicking things up a notch to help inspire you during this season. It has bee an exciting week here at the Craft Room so we hope you can take a little time out of your busy schedule to see what we have to offer!

Snowman Book

I don't know about the rest of the world but Idaho is seeing its share of snow this year. One thing that stays even once the snow clears is the evidence of where a snowman once lay.

Make Your Own Gift Boxes

Make Your Own Gift Boxes ...

Every Christmas for the last several years, my daughters and I make Stroopwafels as presents for friends and family. These tasty Dutch goodies are usually packaged up in little plastic gift bags. This year I thought it would be fun to make special little boxes to put them in. I have often wished that I was a better “paper engineer” but alas, I am not. I am, however, a person obsessed. I cannot look at anything without wondering if it can be cut on my cutter or translated into a new design. Christmas is the perfect time of year to find all kinds of fun shaped packages. A walk through any store will usually result in finding at least one or two gift box ideas. Often the boxes hold candy. After you finish eating the contents you can dismantle the box and use it for a pattern.

12 Tags of Christmas

Those of us here at Pazzles often wish we could let each of you know just how much we appreciate you! Through the years we have made so many wonderful friends. Some we have only spoken to on the phone, others are email or forum friends and many of you we have met at shows. We certainly are convinced that you are a very talented and lovely group of ladies. The 12 tags of Christmas is a gift from Pazzles to you, our very special customers.

Winter Wonderland

On Christmas Eve when we walk home as a family from my In-Laws, my significant other still helps me look for Santa’s sleigh in the sky. No matter how old we get we never truly outgrow the spirit of Christmas in our hearts.

Ornaments

Everywhere you look it seems like holiday goodies and decorations are bursting at the seams and yet I can never get enough! Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year because it is an excuse to get in my craft room and make things for people. I especially enjoy homemade ornaments. I love to take time as I trim the tree to remember the meaning behind each and every ornament.

How to open downloaded cutting ...

We hope you are having as much fun using our images from the library as we had creating them. I thought a good topic this week would be how to open a cutting file.

Christmas Cutting Frenzy

Are you feeling sleep deprived these days? Odds are that many of you are doing major cutting projects this time of year. These projects are probably keeping some of you up very late at night. Whether you are cutting Christmas cards and tags, doing a Swap, making kid’s projects or putting together class kits, you are in the midst of a cutting frenzy. Some of you are old hands at this type of cutting but for the vast majority of us cutting 50 – 100 of something is a very daunting task.

Christmas Indulgence

I have to admit that Christmas is my favorite holiday. I know, I know, it is a really busy time. There are presents to buy (or make) and then they also need wrapped. There are cards to write and send. The house needs decorating, the tree needs set up and the ornaments hung. Then there are all of the extra activities surrounding the holiday. I have a pre-kindergarten program, a first grade program, a Sunday School program, extra choir rehearsals for church, a ministry dinner and a company dinner to attend. All of that “busy-ness” can make me lose sight of what the season is all about.

Birthday Card-Hummingbird with flower

Cards are a great way to express oneself. They are fun to give and fun to receive and most importantly, fun to make. The Pazzles' cutter allows us to make unique cards that you can't find in the store. Also, when you make it yourself the words are always perfect.

Inspiration Blade Holder

It’s pretty easy to forget all the work that little blade holder does in the Inspiration. When we think of cutting, we think of the entire unit. Which is true, but the blade holder has a lot to do with that process. Not only does it cut your projects, but it also plays a big part in the quality of those cuts.

Trifold Cards

Cards at the store are so expensive aren't they? Thankfully with a Pazzles Creative Cutter making your own home made cards of any shape, size, or look is easy. Provided by Chris's inspiration, we decided to make these trifold cards that have a little extra flap that you can weld any shape to such as a heart, star, or really anything! Take at look at these great designs that we made and you will see what I mean.

Putting the Pieces Together

Scrapbooking has gone through many trends in the last 10 years. Die cuts, stickers, chalking and decorative scissors have all had a spot in the limelight. Many of them have recently been rediscovered and have become popular once more. Similarly, paper piecing is now once again a popular technique. I think that its rise in popularity is directly related to the advent of the personal electronic cutter. I know that some of you cannot even think of paper piecing without getting heart palpitations. It seems, at least at first glance, that scrapbookers and card makers fall into two camps when it comes to paper piecing. You either love it or avoid it like the plague. And yet, if you really think about it, we all do paper piecing.

Christmas on a Budget

I love Christmas. I love the decorations, the smell, the food, the presents, and everything about Christmas. My favorite part about Christmas is giving gifts to my friends and family. My husband and I have always been on a fairly tight budget for Christmas. With so many presents to buy, we long ago decided to make our gifts each year and Pazzles Creative Cutter has been a huge help!
